A Guide to the Roof Replacement Process in Kings Mountain, NC
A professional roof replacement by A&C Roofing in Kings Mountain, NC is a systematic process designed to protect your home and deliver a high-quality result.
- 1. Property Protection and Preparation: Before any work begins, our crew will protect your Kings Mountain, NC home's siding, windows, and landscaping with tarps and plywood to prevent damage from falling debris.
- 2. Tear-Off of the Old Roof: We carefully remove all old roofing materials, including shingles, underlayment, and flashing, down to the bare wood roof deck.
- 3. Roof Deck Inspection: This is a critical step. With the old roof removed, we thoroughly inspect the underlying wood sheathing (decking) for any signs of rot, water damage, or weakness, replacing any compromised sections to create a solid foundation for your new roof.
- 4. Installation of the New Roofing System: We meticulously install a metal drip edge along all roof edges, followed by a self-adhering ice and water shield in valleys and around penetrations, a crucial step for Kings Mountain, NC's weather. Next, a layer of synthetic underlayment is laid over the entire roof deck, providing a secondary barrier against moisture. Then, we begin installing the chosen roofing material, whether new shingles or metal panels, starting from the bottom and working upwards, ensuring precise alignment and proper nailing patterns. Finally, we install new, high-quality flashing around chimneys, vents, and skylights to prevent leaks, and ensure the attic has proper ventilation.
- 5. Site Cleanup and Final Inspection: Throughout the project, we made sure to keep the job site as clean as possible. At the end, we performed a meticulous cleanup, which included using magnetic rollers to pick up any stray nails from the yard and driveway. The crew leader then performed a final inspection of the work with the client to ensure their complete satisfaction..This professional process ensures your new roof from A&C Roofing is not just beautiful, but built to provide decades of protection for your Kings Mountain, NC home.
